• Smoothness and gloss

The smoothness of coated paper usually used for gravure printing is the higher the better and the glossiness when tested at a 60° angle should be greater than 60%.

• Whiteness

It is recommended to use coated paper with a whiteness of more than 88%. Because coated paper with low whiteness cannot truly express the contrast between light and dark parts of the printed matter, it is difficult to replicate the exquisite original effect. Coated paper with high whiteness can accurately reproduce the color characteristics of ink, reflect almost all light, improve the contrast of ink, and reflect the color of graphics and text objectively and truly.

• Moisture content

Generally, coated paper that is less affected by moisture changes should be selected for gravure printing, which can be characterized by the water expansion rate of coated paper.
